Don’t have time to blog? Think again.

If you haven’t started a blog for your business, may I ask, what is stopping you? You can find various blogging strategies for Tulsa business owners and start-ups but a reality about blogging is – there is no better time start than now. It’s hardly a fad. In fact, many large corporate entities hire their own internal wiritng staff.  Each business has different resources but you don’t need a large budget to start producing content. So what could be stopping you?

Ah yes, the proverbial “lack of time”. Many business owners end up saying “I don’t have time to blog.”

Well there’s an app for that…not! I wish it were that simple but the truth is, blogging and content marketing does take time and effort. Let’s review a few simple truths of “life without a blog”.

First, you start a business and need people to know so you start on the low-budget path of ordering business cards and maybe list yourself on Craigslist or the local yellow pages. You attend a few trade shows and join your local chamber and soon your phone starts ringing and orders start pouring in. Well, not quite.

So you figure out how to set up a website or you dig down deeper in the budget and pay to have one set up. Done. Any customers from your site yet? “I’m not sure, but at least I’m online”, he says. Hmm…

The truth is, having a website is a basic first step in a marathon race of online advertising. However, without a traffic generator your site remains to be a digital black-hole, where traffic goes in and never comes back. So, how can we make your investment transform your site into a hub where visitors come to your site again, and again, and again?

Yep, that’s right – content!

Blogging not only delivers a message to your prospect on how you propose to resolve their problems but it also makes you the authority online of how to resolve these problems for everyone!

Here’s how we do it:

1. Focus on the why

Please, if anything resonates with you in this article, I hope it is this single point. Don’t waste time blogging about what you do well, what your business does well, and how good you are at solving problems. Focus on why your customer needs your services. Listen to their questions and write them down. Guess what? Those are your topics.

2. Don’t kill yourself worrying about SEO

You might have heard about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Although it is an essential job function for inbound marketing professionals, there is one proven method that works – killer content.

3. Create catchy titles

Seasoned bloggers testify to this. If you spend 30 minutes writing a blog spend 30 minutes working on your title. Many times, blogs get found through RSS feeders and when people sign up for your blogs your site might generate an email to your subscriber. Make sure titles jump off the page because even though you might have written a captivating article, the reality is, people often times will only read half of it. Sorry to burst your bubble!

4. Write for your personas

In our line of business, a persona is a fictitious person that is your ideal client. Come up with who that person would be and generate interests. What do they like to do? What are their goals? Make sure and include references to these points that can draw this particular set of people into your lead base. Don’t be afraid to marginalize your audience because you just might be filtering a future client that is a best fit for your business.

5. Be consistent

Lastly, be consistent. Experienced campaign managers can tell you that blogging a minimum of twice a week will tell Google that you are online and you are serious about proving your worth. Ask your co-workers or people who work for you to contribute to your articles. This is a great way to make an employee feel like they are part of the bigger picture.

Most of all, if you need help don’t be afraid to ask. We offer help with blogging strategies through a free assessment and the whole idea is for us to bring you your next client so the investment is worth it. Feel free to explore what we have to offer and good luck with your blogging adventure!
